Overview

Wise (formerly TransferWise) is an international money transfer and multi-currency account service available in Australia. Beyond transfers, Wise provides a full multi-currency account with a debit card and — most usefully for security-conscious users — virtual card support.

Virtual cards allow you to create a single-use or limited-use card number for online purchases. If a merchant is compromised, only that virtual card is exposed — your main account and balance remain protected. You can delete a virtual card immediately after a purchase, or after an item is delivered.

Wise allows up to 3 active virtual cards at any one time.

Linux Support

Wise is entirely web-based — no native app required. The full account, virtual card management, transfers, and settings are all accessible through the browser on Linux without any workarounds or limitations.
