Overview

Proton offers a tightly integrated suite of privacy-focused services built around end-to-end encryption. All core apps are open source and have been independently audited. Based in Switzerland, Proton operates under some of the world's strongest privacy laws.

The suite includes:

  • Proton Mail — End-to-end encrypted email
  • Proton Calendar — Encrypted calendar, integrates with Proton Mail
  • Proton VPN — No-logs VPN, open source clients
  • Proton Pass — Password manager with email alias support (via SimpleLogin)
  • Proton Drive — End-to-end encrypted cloud storage

Linux Support

Proton VPN has a native Linux CLI and GUI client available via official apt/rpm repositories. Proton Mail and Drive are web-based on Linux — native desktop apps are in development. Proton Pass has a browser extension that works on Firefox and Chromium-based browsers on Linux.

Android Support

All Proton apps have Android clients available on the Play Store and F-Droid (where applicable). The VPN app is particularly well-regarded on Android.
